Oooh! I win!! It's a small victory, and not exactly what I wanted, but it's better than nothing.
Tonight's Angel, while less than perfect was so much better than Buffy. I wish there were 3 (or more!!) episodes of Angel left and only one of BtVS.
Bally is like, the British version of me. The posts he makes and the ideas he comes up with...remind me of how I used to be, when I was all into posting on the forums. I wonder if I'll ever get that spark back. I hope so.
Tomorrow I go back to work already. Having one day off this week was crap. At least the overtime-money will come in handy. [/keep telling myself that] I just wish we had it now. We've got three dollars until next payday. Whee!

Tomorrow is the first of May already?? Who put the year on fast forward?
I got a summons for Jury Duty!!!! As an indication of just how sad my life is, I'm actually looking forward to it! I've never gotten Jury Duty before in my life, so I'm going to treat it as a new experience, something to savor and enjoy.
It's falling on the 21st. The day after Buffy ends. I'll be sure to keep everyone updated.
And again, Blogger is annoyingly stupid at times.

The good news: I'm learning how to type pretty quickly (and error free!) with only 9 fingers.
The bad news (unrelated to the good news): I have to work tomorrow, which would normally be a day off.
The worse news (related to the bad news): When I go to work Thursday, there is a meeting at 3pm, so I have to stick around for that.
In other news: Why is blogger so stupid sometimes?

Bloody hell.
So I was washing the dishes today, and somehow, while I was holding a glass, it broke, and I sliced my right pinky finger open.
It's all bandaged up, and between the throbbing and the coldness (from the lack of blood flow), it's actually kinda cool. It's been a while since I've been injured and now I can milk this for all it's worth. Plus, it gives me the chance to steal some supplies from the First Aid kit here at work.
The cut itself was pretty deep, and right next to a vein, so there was quite a bit of blood. Maybe I'm just weird, but the whole thing was rather interesting to watch. Saren didn't like it, though. She was concerned about my safety and was saying stuff like, "I hope your cut goes away soon." She's such a good person. She must've inherited it from Steph.
Oh. And I've (obviously) broken my self-imposed internet restriction. At least for now. In another 10 minutes or so, I'll be off to watch Smallville. (dork.)
OOH! And I had a Buffy dream! But I won't bore you with the details.
I guess that's everything. I shall leave you with these words of wisdom from Supertramp, which have been in my head since earlier today:
Right, right, you're bloody well right....

Doh!!
It appears that I was banning everyone from my comments for a while there. It happened as an accident. Apparently, if you ban an IP address at the Haloscan website, and put a comma after the last one, it bans every IP. Interesting. It is all taken care of, and nobody (except for Throaty) is banned anymore. Sorry about that.
And, heck, why not. Stalker roll call. You know, since you can leave a message, you might as well.

Annika called today! That was, as it always is, a pleasant surprise. It reminded me that I need to use up and/or purchase another phone card.
Um...what else? The girls finger painted today. If I had a scanner, I'd upload pics for ya'll. Until then, you'll just have to imagine them for yourselves. They were quite colorful. (the pictures and the girls' hands. [wink])
It's freakin' 12:30. I have to be awake in less than 5 hours. No wonder Thursdays produce UTP@. [sigh]
OOH! I have a neat idea for a post/poll on the WD! That hasn't happened to me in forever!
Tonight's Angel had moments of true hilarity, and moments of true creepiness, and moments of just blah. Overall, though, I liked it.

Well, normally I wait until I have 100 PMs in my inbox, but that doesn't look like it's gonna happen anytime soon, so I'll just go ahead and answer it now.
What kind of fool do you take me for?
[jester]
That kind. (I'm too lazy/bored to actually find a link to the jester icon. Forgive me.)
Complete the following sentence: "Just between you and me, I'm really glad that Jennifer, Throaty, mauki, The_Witch, Avery, 20kabillion, Zatharas, and Kingman.is are not posting anymore."
Funny enough, 20kabillion got the most votes (4) even though at the time she still was posting.
Where do you see yourself in 10 seconds?
Wondering where I see myself in 10 minutes.
Where do you see yourself in 10 minutes?
Hey! I was right! Um..7:13pm...I'll probably be logging off the internet, doing some dishes and figuring out what I'll be having for dinner.
Where do you see yourself in 10 hours?
5:14am on the 23rd? I'll (hopefully) be sound asleep.
Where do you see yourself in 10 days?
That would be May 3rd. I'll probably just be at work. Recording a new episode of Alias. Answering next month's PMQ responses. [shrug] Boring.
Where do you see yourself in 10 weeks?
That would be July 1st. The day before Harper turns 3. So, most likely, getting prepared for the next day.
Where do you see yourself in 10 months?
Feb. 22nd of 2004? That would be 2 days before our 6th anniversary. Hopefully love will be in the air. [wink] [wink] [nudge] [nudge]
Also, it would be nice if we had some cash saved away at that point in time. And will have decided if/where we are moving to.
Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
2013. Hmm. I'll be 37. Saren'll be 15. Harper, 12.
Well, hopefully we'll have moved out of Las Vegas by then. And that would, of course, mean having a new job. Something where I can work from home would be ideal, but I really have no clue what I would like to do.
Of course, if the Mayans are correct, it won't matter by that point.
Where do you see yourself in 10 decades?
2103....
I dunno. Depending on how science progresses over the next few decades, we could all very well live several hundred years. I know I'd like to.
I guess by that time if I haven't travelled somewhere I'll be pretty upset with myself.
Where do you see yourself (or humanity) in 10 centuries?
This is interesting to think about. If you think back 1000 years, a lot has changed in society. I really doubt that the folks living in 1003 AD could even concieve of how different life is now.
But, you go back 1000 years from there, and really, not that much had changed. I mean, you take someone living in 03AD, and put them in a time machine and drop them off in 1003, and they'd most likely adjust pretty well.
But if someone from 1003 were to be time-warped to now, they might just go insane.
So. Would someone from 2003 be able to make it in 3003?
I dunno.
It's become difficult for us to imagine that far into the future. I think that this is due to our focus on the now. We have become an incredibly short-sighted species. If the lifespan does indeed expand to hundreds of years, that will have to change. It really should change anyway, if we're going to leave any type of worthwhile planet for our descendants.
Of course, the Mayans might be right, and it won't matter anyway. [wink]
What if they threw a war and nobody showed up?
It would be fought by General Apathy and Major Boredom. (points to who catches the reference)
What is the best damn band ever?
There is only one correct answer to this question.
It is thus:
Music. Pffffft.
and finally...
Tell me something I don't know.
How can I tell myself something I don't already know?
Gah! Logic loop! circuits fizzle

I kinda like the idea of having nemesis..ises.
Growing up, I never had any enemies. (Or if I did, they all did it behind my back) Now, though, I've got several fiends to contend with. It's fun.
I highly recommend it to everyone.
I can only hope that eventually there's a season finale and a big ol' battle in which many people die. I'll keep you informed.

Holy fucking crap! There was a gigantic black widow spider crawling on our sliding glass door to the porch.
Being UTP@ (and still awake? What the hell?, man. What the hell?), I got all freaked out (note: I would've no doubt been freaked out even if I was not currently running on 2.5 hr. of sleep and approacinng the 24 hour mark...)
What was my point? Oh! Yes. I got the bug spray from under the sink, and commenced to get chemical on his ass.
He (or she, I didn't bother to check the spider's genitals) then began to curl up and go through the death throes. Fascinating stuff. The thing was truly the size of a quarter (at least), so I'm not mourning it's death. I'm just
a) glad it didn't get inside
and
b) hoping that it didn't have the chance to breed. The last thing I want is spider eggs near where my hcildren play.
And here it is, your moment of zen.

About the "moments of zen":
They aren't supposed to have any special meaning or anything. They're just there. A weird, or funny, or stupid, or whatever picture. Or maybe a link to a game or a song or a video or a website. Whatever I feel like linking to.
Also, I'm curious as to how long it'll take before I get a "zen" or "buddhist" ad at the top of my blog. [doh2]
Um... What else? [shrug] I don't remember. I'm , I think, the tiredest UTP@ I've been in a LONG time. [/pity]

All day long I've had this "I've been punched really hard in the chest" feeling. That's always fun.
Earlier today Saren and Harper went outside and got all muddy. (It rained yesterday all night long, leaving us with a muddy porch/backyard) They were our Dirty Girls.
(Oooh. Check out this segway) Saren and I played Buffy today, and she won, twice. We played the version where I was the Mayor (which Saren kept calling "The Master"). She used the Living Flame to destroy the box of Garvok before I could ascend. But we kept playing after that until she could kill the Mayor as well. (Side note: Using the Mayor, you could totally cheat and just use the Mayor to kill all the Scoobies, without ascending. Since he's immortal until he becomes a demon, that's kinda a loophole.)
Anywhat, while we were playing, at one point Oz became a werewolf, and Saren moved him over to where Buffy was and had him attack Buffy. She said that she did that because one time on the show, when Oz was a werewolf, he tried to attack Buffy. (true enough)
Later, I vamped Buffy, and Saren broke into tears.
I compromised with her by giving her the "Soul Restoration" card and allowed her to use it to make Buffy human again. (Hey, it worked on Darla. Or maybe it was Buffy who shanshus. [wink])
Anyway, the game was more exciting than the episode tonight.

Hmmm.
I'll have to do some testing with the ol' google-meister first. And, of course, the templateness. [sigh]
Or, rather: Yay! A challenge!!
Sorry. Thinking aloud again. And now, my new way of ending all my blog entries.

If I ever meet mayhem, I may die of lack of oxygen to the brain. I don't think he's human. He's just too funny.
I was thinking earlier today that it seems like there's some easy-all-encompassing solution to humanity's ills, if we could just figure it out.
It's not religion. Cause we've seen how well that works. [rolleyes]
It's not politics either. (ya hear that, Washington? [the place, not the president])
It could be sex. I mean, the bonobos seem to have used that pretty succesfully. But sex and children are, despite what The_Witch might say, not supposed to mix, and that leaves them out of the solution. The answer I'm looking for includes everyone. So, sex, while close, isn't the answer.
My next option? Laughter. And while I think that laughter, like sex, has near-universal appeal, not everyone has the same sense of humor. (as evident by the comments in my entry two ...entries ago.) Also, there are some people who have no sense of humor at all. (see some folks on the WD for proof positive of this) Hmm. So looks like funny is off the list. How sad. (hee! I crack myself up.)
So maybe it's music. Music is supposedly a universal language. And I suppose, in many ways, it is. Unless you're deaf. Or don't speak the language that the song is sung in. Or just tune it out. I mean, much as I love Bobby McFerrin's "Don't Worry, Be Happy.", if I'm in a bad mood, and determined to stay there, not even his crooning will get me out of my funk.
So what else do we all have in common? What is our link to each other that we all must recognize in order to transcend?
I think it's violence. War and killing and death and destruction and cruelty and meanness. That will be our saving grace. It's what we're good at. It's why we're here. Hurrah for violence!

"And I'm hungry like the wolf."
Heh. I've been looking at the screen, trying to think of something to type for almost ten minutes now. Still nothing.
Um...if I'd thought of it earlier, I would've made a post on the WD a few days back (the 10th maybe? I forget what day exactly) when the year was 100 days old. It would've been 2003: The Year (so far) In Review. I'm such a dork.
I need to go scrounge up some food.

One of the keys to comedy is timing. I know this, and I'm not even that funny.
You'd think that Colin Quinn would have picked this up somewhere during his 20 year career as a "comedian".
Sheesh. That guy mangles every single joke he attempts to tell. If anyone can tell me how he managed to get his own show on Comedy Central is beyond me. How he manages to keep it is just mind-boggling.

blogblogblogblogblogblogblogblog....
We've gotten into this awful pattern of staying awake until 3 or 4 in the morning and not waking up until 1 in the afternoon. The day is totally wasted, and we end up lounging aroudn the house, doing nothing. Blah. Must go to sleep earlier. Or, wake up sooner. Whatever.
We did go to the library today, and I got a new book by Robert J. Sawyer. I must say that I really enjoy the books of his that I've read ("Calculating God" and "Flash Forward") and this one ("Hominids") is no different. I'm already 80 pages in and enjoying it muchly.
My stomach is all growly. When I become god and design a universe, I'll make it so that the species in it don't have to eat so often.
Speaking of all mighty beings, I had this thought the other day, figured I'd share:
I don't see how any sane person can believe in god when things such as lonliness exist.

Random thoughts:
(too lazy/time constricted to make bullet points. Maybe I'll edit them in later.)
[-] The real reason those people were burning/destroying the Dixie Chicks CDs was not because of anti-Bush statements, but because they finally heard their cover of "Landslide". That thing is horrid.
[-] Cube2 tonight!! Woo!!
[-] I'm not going online at work anymore. [sigh] The desire is still there, but I've decided to try and be more "professional" at work now. Which means my time online is shorter. Which means I'm making the most of it. Yay for not wasting time!
[-] I'm three years old on the WD today. (as "the P@" anyway, I've been there longer) I was going to make a big ol' post (and still might) but I don't know what I'd say. Also, today is Mary's 3 year anniversary. And tomorrow, if I remember correctly, is Adam's.
[-] I started to watch Sling Blade last night on Bravo. It was 3am, so we decided to go to bed, and I recorded the rest. I have no idea when I'll watch it, because I've got no time. I've got to go to work in an hour and a half, and I still have to shower and do some dishes. And tonight I would like Steph to record Cube2, so my TV viewing schedule is packed. Thank god there's not a new Alias tonight (tomorrow) or I'd never get caught up. The parts of Sling Blade I did see were entertaining enough, even though I reckon nothin' much happened. Mmm-hmm. I'm intrigued enough to watch the rest of the movie, so that's saying something, I guess.
[-] Last night there was a fire down the road. We smelled smoke, and feared that our computer's monitor had been on too long and was smoking. When we heard the sirens, and realized that it was not us, there was much rejoicing.
[-] My feet are cold.
[-] Doh! Remind me to make a boq (on the WD) about blogs. I'm thinking of calling it "New kids on the bloq."
[-] I don't think I've read a book since January. This is just sad.

Note to self (and all interested parties reading): Leaving the internet for six days ends up meaning you have a lot of catching up to do when you return. I highly recommend either not taking internet breaks to begin with, or that everyone else just stop talking whenever you are away.
So I went back to work today. It's weird. Whenever I'm away from work for many days, when I go back, the place looks cleaner. This time was no exception, but there was an actual reason for it. In my absence, a bunch of new equipment had been installed. (For NAB coming up, we've got to look "professional" [laughing head times ten]) Also when I came back to work today, the place almost caught on fire. Welcome back! (The fire story is much less interesting than it sounds, so I won't recap it here.)
What was the other thing I was going to say? I totally don't remember.
Oh! A few weeks back, during Angel, Saren ...er...everyone reading this is either American or up-to-date on spoilers for the shows that have aired, yes? I don't want to spoil any of hte foriengers out there, so I'll hold off on the Saren comments until I know for sure. (I could just make them "blinvisible" but I'm feeling much too lazy/tired to do that, and will instead spend countless amounts of energy (over)explaining why I'm not doing that. Don'tchya just love UTP@? [rolleyes])
Whenever the next election is ('04, right? God. A whole nother year of Dumbfuck? [sigh]) I'm going to vote. I doubt sincerely that it'll make a difference, but I just feel I need to do something to say "Fuck you" to King George the 2nd. Why the hell can't the Dalai Lama be our president? Or even Spongebob Squarepants.
I still have to blog, and at least log on to the WD, so I think I'll end this now.
