Yeah, write.

My "incredibly insane, not really feasible, but still might be somehow manageable" goal of 2005: To blog 200,005 words.

I figured if thousands of folks can manage to write 50,000 words in 30 days, I can do four times that in 365. I'm totally out of my mind, because it works out to about 547 words a day. Which means if I miss a day (or three) I'll be so far behind that I'll never catch up. But who knows. Maybe I'll surprise myself.

I figure I will also work on my elusive Perth story this year (since it's supposed to take place in 2006), and this goal might be the fire that helps it get going.

And, hey, maybe I'll even write a new Ape10 episode.

In non-blog related news - It's three days til Xmas. Three! All right! Hard to believe that it's (nearly) here already, but that's the typical response this time of year. Disbelief at how fast it's arriving. It's taken a long time to hit me, but it's finally sinking in that Xmas will be here! Hope Santa leaves his mark...

Oooh! Excitin.

My suggestion: start a story blog as well (password-protected, in case you want to publish it) and count those words toward the goal.

Oh, man. Good luck with that.

I think you should count the comments that people make towards the total, as well. That might ease the burden.

O'course, then, it wouldn't be 200,005 of your own words. Hmmm.

Ooh, but you could count your comments on other people's blogs, right?

Password protected blog? That sounds like work. I know that Blurty and Livejournal feature password-protection features (or at least Friends Only type of things), but does Blogger?

Also - I wasn't planning on counting my comments in the total word count, but I'll keep it in mind for if (read:when) I get desperate. ;)

It's very easy if you have your own domain. Otherwise, yes, you have blurty or LJ options, or I think diary-x offers that as well. Sadly, blogspot doesn't have that functionality, as far as I've been able to determine.

I can totally be your Goal Manager, if you want. I have experience! I think it's something like a personal trainer, but for, like, the internet. What? Anyway, this entry was 186 words, and you weren't really saying anything. Hee! That's not true, but it was mostly exposition. I think you'll do it, because there are some times when you write A Lot of things. Like when you put that article thing in here that it took me for-frickin-ever to scroll past which I kept needing to do for reasons I can't remember. Then of course, there's all sorts of lists and gimmicks... [wink]

I figure I will also work on my elusive Perth story this yearHOT DAMN!

Amy - that works for me. And you're right. I can totally reach 200,005 words in a year. I ramble pointlessly all the time! Like now!
