Books read in 2021

 That time of the year again, when I post all about the books and movies that I consumed over the year.

As always, after I talk about the book, I'll have the final sentence, with all of it whited out except the final word.

The Downward Spiral is often touted as NIN's masterpiece, but With_Teeth is truly an underappreciated album in my opinion. This is the opening track, and it's a great beginning to an awesome piece of art.

See, the way I pick the song of the day is that I have a spreadsheet with some 2900ish songs on it. Each day (with exceptions for themed days) I use a random number generator to pick one of the songs. There are probably around a hundred songs by the Beatles (or post-Beatles stuff like Wings) on the list, and it took this long to land on one. Kinda surprising is all. 

Anyway, since I got a Beatles song, I'm going to get myself a Pepsi. (There's a whole story behind THAT too.) Back when I would drive in to work each day, I would hit "scan" on the radio and I would tell myself if I hear a Beatles song, that's the Universe telling me that it's okay to get a Pepsi on the way in. To this day, I still like to use The Beatles as a marker for doing things. "I'm hungry, but I'm working, so I'll wait until I hear the Beatles to go grab my lunch."  

I think "And I Love Her" may be my favorite Beatles song.

And I'm not talking about the efficiency of advertising, and whether that is something that is a waste of money, I'm talking about the agencies that do this for a living and (evidently) have no fucking clue what they're doing.

 How hard is it to be consistent in what you say in an email and what you deliver IN THAT SAME EMAIL? If you are going to ask us to run a spot called "Waste of time_30", don't send us a file named WOT30. Tell us you want to run WOT30. (Or change the filename to Waste of time_30. Either way is fine!)

But apparently that's too much logic for these people. And it's like a god damn epidemic in the industry! I would understand if it were one or two, but it's DOZENS of people who operate this way. 

This nitpick has been present in my job from day one, and it's just part of the annoyances that I have to deal with, and it's really not THAT big a deal. But... it kind of is? I mean. WHY is it so difficult for these companies to make that tiny tweak to make? Has nobody actually pointed it out before? 

I don't know. I just know that this (and a lot of other) things that are slightly irritating in my job are lately becoming much more grating to me. Maybe I need a vacation.

Today isn't over yet, but it's had a lot of good things so far.

I weighed myself (162.)

Played Ring Fit (and nearly died as a result. Holy moly, I am *so* out of shape)

Bought John Mull's Road Kill Grill for lunch (and most likely dinner, too. Very large servings, yo.)

Destroyed the gingerbread house with Silas. (Video is up in YouTube)

Started my week 1 book for the across the year challenge.

Had a very short nap. (Any nap is a good nap)

Played some Super Mario 35 (managed to get 5 out of 35. My best ranking yet...)

I haven't started writing this months short story yet, but I do finally have an idea for it, so I'll focus on that tomorrow, I think.

All in all, today's been the best day of the year.
